Ingredients
- 1 lb ground hamburger meat
- 4 hamburger buns
- 8 slices of cheese (your choice, e.g., cheddar or American)
- 1/2 cup onion jam
- 8 slices of bacon
- 2 jalapeños, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Kamado Joe: Start by preheating your Kamado Joe to a medium-high heat, about 400°F. Make sure to use charcoal for that authentic smoky flavor.
2. Cook the Bacon: In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Once done, place the bacon on a paper towel to drain excess fat. Reserve a tablespoon of the bacon fat for flavor.
3. Form and Season the Patties: In a bowl, take the ground hamburger meat and season with salt and pepper. Divide it into 4 equal portions and form patties that are slightly larger than your buns as they will shrink during cooking.
4. Grill the Patties: Place the patties on the preheated Kamado Joe. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip them and immediately lay 2 slices of cheese on each patty. Continue to grill for another 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness.
5. Toast the Buns: In the last few minutes of cooking, add the hamburger buns, cut side down, to the grill. Toast them until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
6. Add the Jalapeños: If desired, place the sliced jalapeños directly on the grill for a minute to slightly char them, enhancing their flavor.
7. Assemble the Burgers: On each toasted bun bottom, spread a generous tablespoon of onion jam. Add the cheeseburger patty topped with crispy bacon, followed by jalapeño slices. Finish with the top bun.
8. Serve: Serve your spicy bacon cheeseburgers hot, and enjoy with your favorite side!
