Indulgent Beef & Tomato Spaghetti Bake
Ingredients
- 12 oz Spaghetti noodles
- 1 lb Ground beef
- 2 medium Onions, diced
- 4 medium Tomatoes, chopped
- 1/4 cup Fresh basil, chopped
- 1 tsp Dried thyme
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Cook the Spaghetti: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti noodles and cook until al dente according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
2. Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they are translucent.
3. Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet with the onions. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it into smaller pieces with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.
4. Add Fresh Ingredients: Stir in the chopped tomatoes, basil, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine and the tomatoes to break down slightly.
5. Combine with Spaghetti: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti noodles with the beef and tomato mixture. Mix thoroughly ensuring the noodles are evenly coated in the sauce.
6. Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the spaghetti mixture into a greased baking dish. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until heated through and slightly crispy on top.
7. Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool for a couple of minutes, then serve warm, garnished with additional fresh basil if desired.
