Heavenly Spiced Apple Galette
Ingredients
- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup dark raisins
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for crust topping)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Apple Filling
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, raisins, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and 1/4 cup of sugar. Toss everything together gently until the apples are evenly coated with the spices and sugar.
3. Assemble the Galette
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie crust into a 12-inch circle. Place the rolled-out crust onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
4. Add the Filling
Arrange the spiced apple mixture in the center of the crust, leaving a 2-inch border around the edges. Gently fold the border over the apples, pleating it as necessary, to create a rustic edge.
5. Brush the Crust
Using a pastry brush, apply the melted butter over the folded edges of the crust. Sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of sugar over the brushed butter.
6. Bake the Galette
Place the galette in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
7. Cool and Serve
Allow the galette to cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
